Academic mobility

Academic mobility is the movement of students or research teachers to study or conduct research for a certain academic period: a semester or academic year to another higher educational institution (domestically or abroad) with the obligatory transfer of the acquired educational programs in the form of credits at one's higher educational institution or to continue your studies at another higher education institution.

Types of academic mobility in AOGU:

  • internal (national);
  • external (international);
  • short-term;
  • long-term.

Internal (national) academic mobility is the movement of students for training, internship for a certain academic period (semester / academic year) to another higher educational institution in Kazakhstan with the obligatory transfer of the acquired educational programs in the form of credits at their university.

External (international) academic mobility is the movement of students for study, internship for a certain period (semester / academic year) to a foreign higher educational institution or from a foreign higher educational institution with the obligatory transfer of the acquired educational programs in the form of credits at their own university.

Short-term academic mobility is the movement of students for training or internship for a period of 10 days to 4 months.

Long-term academic mobility is moving students to study or practice for a period of more than 4 months.

The predominant way to implement Academic mobility of students of the AOGU named after S. Utebayev is to send them to partner universities for:

  • training in the framework of joint programs of double diplomas (degrees);
  • training within the framework of interuniversity cooperation (without issuing a second diploma), including within the framework of academic exchange programs;
  • passing educational, research, industrial practice;
  • passing educational, research, industrial practice;
  • training in joint research programs;
  • training within the framework of mastering elective EP disciplines;
  • participation in summer schools (semesters).

Organization of referral to study within the framework of academic mobility is carried out on the basis of:

- international agreements (international programs, memorandums and agreements on cooperation, exchange and scholarship programs);

- agreements with educational organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

- an official invitation from a foreign or Kazakhstani university to a program participant.


Information about academic mobility programs is published on the University website, in announcements on educational campuses and is communicated to students through internal information channels and through faculties and the International office.

The direction of students to study abroad within the framework of academic mobility is carried out through:

  • funds from the republican budget;
  • income received by AOGU from the sale of paid services;
  • grants from employers, social, academic and scientific partners, international and domestic foundations and scholarships;
  • personal funds of students.

Students of all training cycles (bachelor's and master's degrees) can become applicants for academic mobility. Students with tuition and course arrears for the summer semester are not allowed to participate in the program.
