The Oil and Gas Faculty was among the first, which was formed in 1990 in the structure of the Atyrau Oil and Gas University and was called the Oil Faculty.

1990

Education of the Oil and Gas Faculty Subsequently, on the basis of the oil faculty, "technological" and "economic" faculties were created, now the two leading faculties of the university, therefore the oil and gas faculty deservedly has the status of "Kara shanyrak". In the same 1990, the departments "Geology", "General Physics" were formed. In the same years, the departments "Drilling of oil and gas wells", "Development and operation of oil and gas fields" were formed.

2015

As part of the implementation of trilingual education at the university in 2015, an English-language department with a degree in Oil and Gas was opened at the faculty. Since the 2015 academic year, the Polygon educational program has been implemented at the Atyrau Oil and Gas University. Currently, within the framework of this program, the faculty is successfully developing dual training in bachelor's specialties 5B070800 - "Oil and Gas Business" and 5B070600 - "Geology and Exploration of Mineral Deposits" together with JSC Embamunaigas, LLP Zhigermunayservice, LLP KazNIGRI. A special contribution to the implementation of dual education is made by Embamunaigas JSC, the first partner and the first enterprise through which graduates of this program were graduated. Thanks to dual training, students are provided with opportunities for obtaining theoretical education, as well as practical skills directly in production.

2015-2016

Within the framework of the State Program for Industrial and Innovative Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the faculty trains bachelors in the specialty 5B070800 - "Oil and Gas Business" under the educational programs: "Development and operation of oil and gas fields" and "Production and preparation of well products.".

УDear guests of the faculty, the oil and gas industry is one of the main donors of the country's budget. For us, the oil and gas industry is not only a donor, but our main pride. Such a bright development of the oil and gas sector is explained by close cooperation with large companies of other countries, whose advanced experience in field development finds its application on Kazakh soil.
Historically, the main goal of the university was the rational staffing of the oil and gas industry with local competitive personnel. The training of qualified specialists in the western region, which is particularly rich in hydrocarbons, continues to be our main task. Half a century later, the goals have remained unchanged, the scale of tasks that require solutions has changed, while the main task remains to produce talents for the country according to international standards.

The general objectives of the faculty can be described by the following provisions:

1. To promote the growth and development of student talents.
2. To make people's lives easier and serve society.
3. Create an environment of "continuous development and improvement" for students and staff.
We are confident that we will achieve our goals and become the pride of the country and a leader in education together with our colleagues.

The basis of the teaching staff of the oil and gas faculty is made up of full-time teachers who have a long record of academic activity, have high level of professional qualities and are able to educate students by personal example.

The teaching staff of the oil and gas faculty consists of graduates of leading oil and technical universities of Almaty, Moscow, Leningrad, Ufa, Grozny, Tashkent and others.
