Foreign Students

Due to possible short-notice changes in the entry/exit regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, incoming international students are advised to check the current visa and migration requirements before traveling. 🔗 [RU] / [EN]

Migration Registration and Student Visa Extension

Foreign students in Kazakhstan must possess the following documents at all times:

• ▪ Passport
• ▪ Migration card
• ▪ Detachable part of the notification form with a mark of migration registration

Within 3 working days, students must inform the International Office of any changes in:

• ▪ Citizenship
• ▪ Place of stay
• ▪ Personal information (e.g. name, surname, patronymic, etc.)

Upon arrival in Kazakhstan, foreign citizens must visit the International Office within 3 days to register or extend their student visa.

If a student resides outside the university dormitory, a notarized landlord consent with the actual address of residence must be provided for visa registration.

Each time a student leaves the Republic of Kazakhstan, they must notify the International Office.

Visa Extension Procedure

To extend a visa, students must submit the following documents to the International Office at least 15 business days before the visa expiration date:

• ▪ Passport
• ▪ Photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
• ▪ Completed visa application form
• ▪ Certificate from the place of study
• ▪ Proof of visa fee payment (in KZT)

For citizens of the following countries: Russian Federation, Kyrgyz Republic, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus – the following documents are required:

• ▪ Passport and a copy
• ▪ Certificate from the place of study
• ▪ Copy of hostel pass (with building and room number) or notarized landlord consent indicating the address of residence

Additional Information

• ▪ Students who are not eligible for an extension must leave and re-enter Kazakhstan. New migration registration will be based on the new migration card upon re-entry.
• ▪ When transferring to another educational institution for full-time study, students are allowed to extend their temporary stay without leaving Kazakhstan.
