Atyrau University of Oil and Gas signed a memorandum with Liaoning University of China

As part of a working visit to the People's Republic of China, Akim of Atyrau region Serik Shapkenov met with the delegation of Liaoning Petrochemical University, headed by Rector Liu Jian. This university is a multidisciplinary educational institution specializing in the energy sector and has more than 10 research institutes.

During the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between S. Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas and Liaoning Petrochemical University. Under this agreement, the two universities plan to exchange students and teaching staff, as well as jointly implement educational programs and share experience. The agreement aims to strengthen scientific and academic ties between the two countries, create opportunities for joint research projects, enhance human resources, and accumulate practical experience.

“It is well known that the petrochemical industry is actively developing in Liaoning Province. Therefore, this cooperation will be especially beneficial for both universities, which train highly qualified specialists and strive to master advanced technologies. S. Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas has also achieved significant success: it is equipped with modern laboratories and digital teaching tools, and closely cooperates with major oil and gas companies. Large-scale projects for the development of petrochemistry are being implemented in the region, with particular attention paid to geology and automation. Today’s memorandum opens up great prospects for joint work and industry development,” noted Akim of Atyrau region Serik Shapkenov.

Currently, Atyrau University of Oil and Gas annually graduates qualified specialists in the fields of oil and gas, energy, environmental engineering, and IT. The university successfully implements a dual education system and offers international internships.

“At present, a training and production site is under construction at the university. This will be a unique platform for training highly qualified specialists. In the near future, we plan to hold negotiations on launching a dual degree program, as well as student and faculty exchanges,” said Akmor Zhomart, Head of the International Cooperation Center at S. Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas.
