UTEBAYEV UNIVERSITY students take part in KazMunayGas project implementing innovative STRYDE seismic technology
At the Gran field in the Atyrau region, KazMunayGas subsidiary – JSC Embamunaigas – is implementing the advanced wireless seismic exploration system STRYDE. Students and young specialists from Utebaev University are taking part in the project, gaining unique hands-on experience with cutting-edge global technologies, reports AtyrauPress.
The system comprises the world’s most compact and lightweight autonomous receivers weighing just 150 grams. They can withstand extreme temperatures and operate continuously for 28 days without recharging while recording data around the clock. Data download with high resolution and quality takes only 4 hours, significantly improving the efficiency of data collection and processing.
A single specialist can carry and deploy up to 90 receivers. Overall, the system allows for easy deployment of a high-density observation network. As a result, the number of personnel required is reduced by up to 50%, productivity increases fourfold, field equipment weight decreases twentyfold, the number of field vehicles drops by 80%, and fieldwork duration is reduced by an average of 30%.
Moreover, the use of this system eliminates the need for cable infrastructure and heavy equipment, minimizes environmental impact, enhances occupational safety, and reduces geological exploration costs.
Notably, the project involves young professionals from Utebaev University, contributing to the professional development of Kazakhstani specialists and strengthening the scientific and practical potential of the country.
Modern seismic data will enable a new assessment of mature oil and gas fields and open opportunities to extend their lifecycle. KazMunayGas views the Gran project as a practical example of the synergy between science and technology, laying the foundation for further innovation implementation.
