General Assembly of Caspian Universities at UTEBAYEV UNIVERSITY

UTEBAYEV UNIVERSITY hosted the participants of the XXVII General Assembly of Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian States. The Assembly was held under the theme “Caspian Ecosystem: Integration of Science and Education.”

During the meeting, participants discussed issues of sustainable development in the Caspian region, ecosystem preservation, and the rational use of water and biological resources. Rectors and scientists from leading universities of Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan took part in the roundtable discussion.

UTEBAYEV UNIVERSITY sees its mission in promoting scientific and innovative development and ensuring environmental safety in the Caspian region. The university hosts modern laboratories researching the Caspian water ecosystem, biomaterials, and water purification technologies.

The N. Nadirov Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Ecology serves as the core of the university’s scientific potential and will become a coordination hub for research in regional environmental monitoring and sustainable development.

During the Assembly, the university presented several key initiatives:

  • Creation of the “Digital Atlas of the Caspian” — an open scientific and educational platform;
  • Development of joint Master’s and PhD programs in “Sustainable Development of the Caspian Region”;
  • Formation of a Network of Caspian Youth Laboratories aimed at involving students and young researchers in real scientific projects.

These initiatives aim to make the Caspian not only a subject of research but also a global model of sustainable development. The Caspian is our common treasure. Today’s Assembly is a concrete step toward uniting science and education for a shared future.

We wish all colleagues, partners, and participants fruitful discussions, new ideas, and successful cooperation!
