International Forum of Strategic Partners “Kazakhstan — The Territory of Academic Education” Held in Astana
Today, Astana is hosting the International Forum of Strategic Partners titled “Kazakhstan — The Territory of Academic Education.” The forum focuses on discussing key issues in the development of higher education and science.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, took part in the event, emphasizing the decisive role of the higher education system in the country’s intellectual development and technological modernization.
“Kazakhstan aims to become part of the global education market. Therefore, we have set ourselves an ambitious yet crucial goal. To achieve it, partnerships have been established with 40 leading universities worldwide, and 33 branches of foreign higher education institutions have been opened in the country. In many of these branches, education is conducted in English, Russian, and Chinese. This is essential, as multilingualism in education forms the foundation of openness and competitiveness — for individuals, universities, and even entire nations. We have deliberately taken an important step toward integration into the global academic space. Moreover, the Kazakh language and the History of Kazakhstan are mandatory subjects in all branches. This helps international students gain a deeper understanding of our culture and mentality,” the Head of State noted.
The forum was also attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, as well as rectors of leading foreign and domestic universities, representatives of international organizations, and research centers.
Among the active participants were UTEBAYEV UNIVERSITY and the Kazakhstan branch of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. The participants discussed the prospects for developing partnerships in higher education and science, exchanging experience, and implementing innovative initiatives.
